Predators

In addition to leopard and lion, you might also spot wild dog, honey badger, porcupine, civet and serval. Spotted hyenas are prominent in the reserve and play a vital role in cleaning the reserve of debris.

Mammals

Giraffe, zebra, buffalo, warthog, baboon, impala, kudu, vervet monkey, duiker, steenbok, and bushbuck are regularly sighted. These can often be seen around camp as well. Hippo, waterbuck, Sharp’s grysbok, klipspringer and nyala can be spotted at the river.

Birdlife

Birds to spot include vultures, owls, eagles, bee-eaters, rollers, bustards, hornbills, starlings and shrikes.

Water birds such as herons, storks, plovers, spoonbills, sandpipers, African Fish Eagles and African Jacana are only a few birds that are commonly spotted along the banks of the Olifants River

Woodland specials such as oriole, robins, larks, chats, coursers and coucals are frequently spotted.
